Andy wants you to get clear on the message that your LinkedIn profile delivers.
It is not about networking but building relationships. You build relationships by providing something of value.
Andy thinks the ‘Open to Work’ feature of LinkedIn is a bad idea as it smacks of desperation. During the time of a pandemic, you must be a marketer extraordinaire, be positive and be confident.
Publishing Content
It is a good use of your time to publish content and be commenting on posts and articles.
Andy thinks in an ideal world you should create both articles and posts. Articles get indexed by Google and will be found where posts are not indexed.
The LinkedIn newsletter feature has been a closed feature for a chosen few. LinkedIn has made this more widely available recently. You cannot take the subscriber list off-platform.
Andy says you should look at content that is already out there and is doing well. Look for content with high engagement and figure out why it is generating that engagement. This will help you decide what kind of content to create.
It can take a long time to develop a following. Have an experimental mindset. Try different kinds of posts.

Great show, and coincidentally I worked for IBM for 32 years and startied my LinkedIn profile in 2005 after my 1st layoff.
