Fractional and Interim Leadership Roles with Mike Harris of Patina Solutions [Podcast]

Podcast #221 – Mike Harris from Patina Solutions Discusses Fractional and Interim Leadership Positions

Description:

Fractional and Interim Leadership Roles with Mike Harris of Patina Solutions [Podcast]This week I am speaking with Mike Harris CEO of Patina Solutions and Patina Nation. I was introduced to Patina several years ago as Patina Solutions provides fractional and interim leadership opportunities for the members of the Patina Nation community. Patina Nation is primarily made of executives and managers who have 25 or more years of experience and are looking for gig work.

Below is Mike’s bio:

A proven and prolific entrepreneur, Mike has significant experience in starting and building professional and technical services firms. Patina Solutions is his sixth professional services start-up. As a co-founder of Patina Solutions and Patina Nation in 2008, Mike Harris saw the growing talent gap occurring as baby boomers who hold a high percentage of leadership positions and jobs were starting to retire from the workforce. He also saw that professionals with 25 years or more of experience were looking to work differently and he wanted to harness the power of these experts to fill client’s impending resource and skill gaps for projects and interim leadership roles.

Build the Connections

There are several businesses that need people to fill open job opportunities. These businesses might be very interested in people that have “been there – done that.”

That’s where Patina Solutions comes in with a sales force that goes out and finds those business opportunities.

Patina will then try to match that opportunity with one of the group members that could fill the need.

This “group” is called Patina Nation – which is the talent pool and community that is built for work, education, and support.

Find the Perfect Candidate

When a client has an opportunity that needs to be filled, Patina will get surgical to get the specific person with those exact specifications from the Patina Nation.

They will sift between the need and the solution that makes sense for the client and the member.

Then once the talent is identified, Patina will present one or two candidates to the client.

Engagement of Work

Normal engagement of work is normally 3-4 months long. However, some projects can go on for days or even years.

There is also contract work available as well.

Patina looks long-term with the connection it makes with the clients and its members so flexibility is the key.

The candidates are considered W2 employees 99% of the time as this protects both the client and the member.

What Does a Patina Nation Member Look Like?

The “average” Patina Nation member is someone with 25+ years of experience.

To have 25+ years of experience, that makes the average member approximately 50-65 years old.

Many have their own consulting business but Patina Nation takes them even while keeping their own consulting business.

Others are in transition due to downsizing from their current employer or for some other reason.

However, others just need to get back into a traditional job and Patina helps them as well.

Benefits of Patina Nation Membership

The group is 1M strong now.

There are several benefits of being a member:

  • Deals on liability insurance and 401K plans
  • Educational programs and webinars
  • Group medical plans
  • Website creation
  • Tax services
  • And more

Some of these are at a cost, however, it is completely free to join the Patina Nation.

The Pandemic changed the world, however, Patina has continued to grow and be successful even with the changes to work environments.
