Strategic Networking – Targeting Companies and Recruiters – Part 2

In my last post, I asked a recruiter from VMware to connect with me on LinkedInWithin 48 hours SHE ACCEPTED!  I now have a connection into VMWare.

What do you think I should do next?  CALL HER duh! If I do not have her phone number from her LinkedIn profile, I can just call the main company number and ask for her. What should I ask her when I call?

  • If I am looking at a specific job, I should ask which recruiter is handling the position.
  • If I am looking at a specific area within the company, I should ask which recruiter is handling that specific area.
  • Ask about the culture and opportunities within the company.

If she does not answer, I should leave a message with my questions and follow up with an e-mail. I must be persistent and repeat this procedure in a few days if you do not get a response.

Let us now take this one step further and locate an individual we want to target for the next networking opportunity.
